ADDRESS BOOK GUIDE

Smsbts.com address book tool gives you the ability to upload a group of contacts from a text file. The maximum number of contacts per txt file should not exceed 100, if exceeded the first 100 contacts only will be uploaded.

Note : for bulk SMS messaging to a large number of recipients it is more appropriate to use the Send SMS From File feature
The address book tool aims at giving you the opportunity to organize your contacts into different groups so that you can send SMS messages to each group separately.

txt. file format

The text file should have the following format:
Each line in the uploaded text file should contain the three field of the address book as following :
field1;field2;mobilephone number

While the content of fields 1,2 is optionary (they also can be null), the third field must consist of a single mobile phone number.

To make the format of the text file more convenient we give the following example:

Notes:

In field1 and field2 you can write whatever info you think necessary for each contact person; for example name and surname or name and surname in field1 and birthday date in field2 etc.
You can also leave one or both fields empty as following:
- field1;; mobile phone number in this case you leave the second field empty
- ;field2; mobile phone number in this case you leave the first field empty
- mobile phone number in this case both fields will be empty

BULK SMS FROM (TEXT FILE ) GUIDE

smsbts.com gives you the opportunity to send bulk SMS messages from any text file e.g. filename.txt. Note that there is no limit on the number of mobile phone numbers that a text file can contain. This makes this feature the most effective way for sending bulk (massive) SMS messages:

Generating a text file

To generate a text file please follow the following steps:

Go to the desktop
Right click on the desktop with the mouse , and the following menu appears

Select new, and the following sub menu appears

Select Text Document ( .txt file ) , then the following icon appears on the desktop which represents the text file that you have created.

To give the text file another name; right click the icon and choose rename
Give the file an new name (e.g. filename.txt)
Double click the text file to open
Write the mobile phone numbers in your local country format or in international format. The mobile phone numbers should be one under another as illustrated in the following example.
After writing the mobile phone number don’t forget to save the file (Ctrl+s)

Text file required format

The text file containing the mobile phone numbers that you should create must have the following format

It is not a problem if in the above text file, non mobile telephone numbers or text are included e.g.( 2107255418 non SMS mobile phone number in Greece , or Mary mobile 6944207411). This is due the fact that our SMS application has the ability to isolate text and non mobile phone numbers automatically form the text file.
Also mobile phones could be written in either international format or in your local country format.

Generating a text file form other file types

In the case where you have your mobile phones saved in a data base you can easily copy and paste the column in the data base that contains the mobile phones in a text file (filename.txt).

An analytical example is given below:

Let’s say that the mobile phone numbers are saved in an Excel or Access data base as in the following example:

The first thing you must do is to create a text ( to learn how to create a text file click here)
From the Excel file (or Access) select the column the contains the mobile phone numbers as following:

Right click the column selected. From the menu that appears select “ copy”

Open the text file that you have created (to open just double click the text file)
Right click and from the submenu that appears choose paste

Flash SMS

Flash SMS is a specialised SMS feature which enables a standard text SMS to be delivered directly to the screen of the mobile device. In other words, instead of the SMS message being delivered to the inbox of the mobile phone, it appears directly on the screen automatically. This way, it can make the SMS less intrusive or disruptive than normal. Since it can take a few seconds for a recipient of a message to browse to that message in a mobile phone’s inbox, this is a powerful SMS protocol for important messages that do not need to be stored – but should be read quickly. The recipient is, with most handsets, able to save any flash SMS by selecting that option once the message has been read.

Unicode Characters (Multilingual Support)

SMS is a global system, and as such is designed according to standard, which supports global communications. This includes the ability for mobile phones to support multiple languages. To assist with the transfer of languages (each with their own alphabets) in different countries and between different systems, a standard called Unicode was developed. Unicode is an alternative representation of all alphabetic characters into four digit codes, which are then interpretable on other systems.

Using Unicode, a message can be delivered through our system in any language, including Chinese, Greek, Arabic, Russian etc. etc. and displayed on the handset in that language. However, for the message to appear in the correct language on the recipient mobile handset, that handset will need to support that language.
